Writing has always been part of my life. In high school I had an essay and a poem published in our literary magazine. In college I was editor of the yearbook my senior year. When I first started teaching, I co-authored a handbook for parents of special needs children and helped write the curriculum guide. In 1996 I took part in the Coastal Georgia writing project, which was a national program of teachers teaching teachers to use writing in the classroom across the curriculum. In 2004 I wrote an article that was published in Guideposts magazine. I am a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature. In 2010 I attended Wildacres writing program in the Blue Ridge Mountains and I started my novel. I have taken three courses with the Great Smokies Writing program and I am a member of SCBWI. I love reading and writing.
